My Story:
My journey to the design world started when I was 18. I had a friend whose father was really into woodworking, so they gave me a tour of their expansive shop space. I have always loved working with my hands, and woodworking was the perfect outlet. Occasionally I would work in their shop, while saving up money for my own tools. Eventually I went to work for a woodworking supply company, where I was able to purchase a shop full of equipment. After several years, I decided I wanted to have formal training for cabinet and furniture making. So I enrolled at Hennepin Tech's cabinetmaking program. From the beginning of this course, my plan was to learn as much as I could about the design and construction of cabinets and furniture, and then parlay that into a sales career in the kitchen and bath field. This would combine my passion for wood with my passion for sales and for people. After finishing this course, I went to work with a local cabinet shop, where I designed and sold kitchens using Cabinet vision and CAD. After several years, I came to Gerhard’s, where I have been fortunate to work with and for a Company that fosters my growth and challenges me!
